I saw a movie where a teenage couple sneaked off and got married. Can you do that in New Zealand?

In New Zealand you can get married when you are 16 yrs but only with your parent's consent. If they won’t give permission, you can apply to the Family Court for consent.  You can get married without your parent's consent when you are 20 yrs.
