Oh the freedom of having your own car…to be able to get out whenever you feel like it- whether it be a trip to the beach on a sunny day, finally getting to take that girl/guy that you’ve had your eye on out on a date, a lazy short trip to the dairy down the road or a good old random road trip during summer holidays…yes, good times indeed.

But (and at the risk of sounding like a lecture from the olds) with this freedom comes some pretty massive expensive car repairs, warrants, regos and the dreaded car accidents.  Not forgetting the crazy petrol prices that suddenly make that trip to uni on the bus or train so much more appealing.

Unfortunately if you are 25 years and under car insurance will be expensive, but try not to let that phase you because at the end of the day it is an expense that you just may be really grateful you invested in after a little “ding” in a carpark.
There are different insurance types that entitle you to different levels of coverage and at the very least you should get third party insurance which will cover the damage to another vehicle should you be found to be in the wrong.

Some factors that will determine how much you will end up paying for insurance are:

previous accidents
type of license you hold
gender
age
who else will be driving your car
are you the only owner of the car
the type of insurance you want (i.e. third person, third person theft and fire, standard).
excess (which is the initial amount that you pay to contribute to the total cost of any claim).
Here are a couple of car insurance providers you may want check out:
